This is a blog about my research into rammed earth in the Thompson- Cariboo Region. The focus of the research is to build the rammed earth walls by hand rather then contracting a specialist. I am an architecture and engineering student at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops BC Canada, this blog is a way for me to post my questions and answers while doing my research. Leave a comment or question, Thanks

Update: SIREWALL course
As outlined in my research proposal i would like to take a course through SIREWALL, a company that builds rammed earth structures based in salt spring island, on the process of building with rammed earth and the benifit to the occupants. The closest course date is in April, but i think that might be a busy month so i will try to take it in May. I have emailed the company for more information on the course, such as if im still able to registar and i will post the progress in a coment below when i get a response.

I recently got a reply from SIREWALL, there is still room availble in the course for May 4-5, now I just have to figure out how the UREAP funding will work.

DeleteWe are based in Oliver. Started out by loving old stone architecture, then being dissatisfied with stick framing conventions. Also, there was this thing in the 1970's called The Energy Crisis that we found most galvanizing.
